Guild Policies
Shadow Order is a light-RP guild, meaning that what is spoken in Say (/s) and Yell (/y) should remain in character; however, guild chat, party/raid chat, and posts on most of the channels are generally out-of-character.
Arguing and unnecessary drama are NOT permitted in guild chat, party/raid chat, or any public channel (General, Trade, etc...). Shadow Order members are expected to interact maturely and treat each other with respect at all times; moreover, Shadow Order members are expected to be friendly and respectful to those outside the guild as well. When interacting with non-guildies, endeavor to represent the guild in a positive manner.
Crafting: Shadow Order members "scratch each other's backs" in relation to crafting items and enchanting. No tips are needed when a guild member crafts or enchants an item for another guild member; however, the person who requires the item or enchant is expected to provide all necessary materials in advance.
Guild Bank: Any excess materials, recipes, gear, and money not required for personal use or sale may be placed in the guild bank. If you do not have access to the guild bank and wish to deposit items into the bank, please send the items to either Moonsz (the Quartermaster) or Atarria and label them Guild Bank Deposit.
To gain guild bank access, one must be promoted beyond the initial Shade rank. There are two requirements for such a promotion:
1.) Shades must be active members of the guild for at least one month without incident. This is our way of giving new members a chance to get to know what Shadow Order expects of them and how we work.
2.) Shades who meet the first requirement must show proof that they use an authenticator for their game account. Authenticators are available from the Blizzard Store. Please make sure you purchase the correct one for your region. To prove that you play with an authenticator, show your new core hound pet in game to either an officer or to Atarria (Belias).
After a Shade meets both requirements, promotions of Shades to the next rank to gain bank access will occur at the next Guild Meeting. Please attend the meeting to get your promotion!
Anytime a guild member is in need of a particular material, item, or recipe located in a tab they cannot withdraw from, they need only send a letter or tell to an officer requesting said item.
Cash withdrawals and loans from the bank are not typically permitted. However, there are special circumstances.

Raiding Policies
Gearing Up: Just because you are level 85 doesn't mean you are ready to run BoT (for example) because the guild is running it. Consult with the officers about what sort of gear you'll need to be successful raiding. Then, actively seek instance runs (by posting needed runs on the guild calendar or arranging pickup groups) for the instances and raids you need to run. Using the Dungeon Finder to pug heroic instances is an excellent way to pick up gear to become ready for raids. Also, if you plan to craft some of your gear, work hard to level up your trade skills and gather the necessary materials to do so. It is every individual's responsibility to gear themselves up if they want to raid, so get out there and get it done. Check with the officers regularly, and they will let you know when your gear is up to raid status.
Speccing for Raids: In Shadow Order, we do not tell people how they must spec their characters; however, some specs are better for raiding than others. Characters with raid-oriented specs will have preference for roster spots over similarly-geared characters of the same class who have less raid-friendly specs. If you want to learn more about how to apply your talent points to best run a raid, please consult the officers. Sign up for Raids: Once you are approved by the officers as being raid-ready, you will be free to sign up for posted raid runs on the ingame calendar. Raid Acceptance: Unlike most instance runs, raid rosters are NOT determined on a first-come, first served basis. Just because you sign up early for a raid does NOT mean you'll be guaranteed a spot on the run. Belias, with assistance from guild officers, will review the list of all those who signed up for the run. From that list, he will assemble the best group possible – the group that he feels gives the best possible chance for success against the boss(es) the raid party will be facing on that run. All members who sign up for a raid are expected to be online and ready to raid by the posted start time for the run. Raid Rosters: The final roster for each raid will not usually be posted. This is to ensure that everyone who signs up shows up and that we get the best possible group makeup for the run. If you have signed up for a raid, you must show up 15 minutes early prepared to go with everything you need and ready to play without interruptions. In other words, take care of your real life stuff first so you won't have to interrupt everyone else's good time. |
"Wait! I wasn't chosen for the raid I signed up for? Those bastards!"
Even though you may be well-geared and have a solid raid spec, you may still not be chosen to go on a particular raid. When this happens, you will probably be angry and feel excluded. You may wonder why you weren't picked. The truth is, we have many people in the guild who want to raid and are capable of raiding, and there are only 10 slots for each run. Each group needs to be well-balanced and finely-tuned, and it will be impossible to put together a perfectly-balanced group while not excluding at least a few players who "deserve" to go. If you don't get to go on a particular run, don't take it personality, just accept it as one of the unfortunate realities of raiding. If we could bring everyone to a raid and still have success, then we would do so. "I'm raid-ready, but I never seem to be able to get in on a run. What can I do?" First of all, our goal is to get more people involved. Start working with other players in the guild who are having trouble getting into raids. Run some heroic instances with them and get a feel for their play style. Let the officers know about your experiences working with newer members. Secondly, Shadow Order is not all about raiding - it is just one thing we do. We are not a "raid guild" – we are a friendly social guild that raids and hopes to do so successfully. If you're having trouble getting into raids, you should still be able to participate regularly in PvP activities, endgame instance runs and, when you're ready, in 5-man heroic instances. Raid Loot Rules: Shadow Order uses a Master Loot system for raiding, with the filter set to Rare. Everyone who is eligible to receive an item may roll on the item. If you are rolling for an item to be used in an off set (i.e., for your second spec), please say "Off Set Roll" in raid chat. Priority goes to those people who would equip the item in their main raiding set (not for an off set) and to those people who have not yet received an item that would be equipped in their main raiding set. Tier gear is an exception to this rule: All members of the raid have equal chance to receive a tier piece regardless of receiving a drop earlier in the raid. In the case of no one needing an item, it will be given to the raid enchanter for disenchanting. These items will be DE'd at the end of the raid whenever possible and bag space permits. Shards go into the guild bank. If you receive an item during the raid and later choose not to keep it, please do not vendor the item or DE it yourself -- please give the item back to the raid leader so that other members of the raid who were eligible to roll on the item may have the opportunity to roll again for it. |
